New Operator for the Bronx Golf Course

New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed the new 'BALLY LINKS' sign at the Ferry Point golf course in the Bronx. The Trump Organization, which operated the golf course, has been replaced by Bally's Corporation. The sign was unveiled during a ceremony, signifying the beginning of a new chapter for the golf course and the Bronx.

Mayor Adams expressed his excitement and gratitude to Bally's for the partnership, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the Bronx. He stated that this day is not just about a sign change, but about the growth and progression of the borough.

The Bally's Golf Links at Ferry Point is a city-owned 180-acre golf course with an 18-hole design and a 20,000 square-foot clubhouse. Bally's Corporation, known for its casinos, will now operate the site in hopes of acquiring one of the three pending casino licenses for the downstate area.

Community Concerns and Bally's Commitment

While Bally's looks forward to its new venture, some community members are organizing against the possibility of a casino at the golf course. City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato, who is the first Bronx Republican elected to the city council in 50 years, opposes Bally's bid for a casino in her district.

Last year, Bally's partnered with the Throgg's Neck community to offer a free shuttle program for residents, connecting them to the Throgg's Neck Ferry Landing and other public transit options. Bally's Chairman Soo Kim affirmed the company's commitment to the Bronx and acknowledged the importance of listening to the needs of the community.

The Trump Organization sold the contract to operate the golf course to Bally's last September, following the city's decision to sever ties with the organization. This move came after previous contract terminations for the Central Park Carousel and two ice skating rinks.

Next Steps and Future Developments

With the change in operators, the Bronx golf course looks towards a new era of growth and development. Bally's Corporation aims to utilize the site as part of its expansion plans and its dedication to supporting the Bronx community.

As the golf course begins its new chapter under Bally's leadership, the ongoing discussions surrounding the potential for a casino on the premises will continue. The outcome of these discussions will shape the future of the Bronx and its relationship with the golf course.
