Liverpool Open to Offers for Luis Diaz

Liverpool will reportedly 'listen to offers' for forward Luis Diaz, who has attracted interest from Spanish clubs. The Colombian player joined Liverpool in January 2022 after the club faced competition from Tottenham. Despite not reaching the same level of performance as his predecessor Sadio Mane, Diaz has become a fan favorite for his determination and competitiveness.

However, it comes as a surprise that Liverpool is willing to entertain offers for the 27-year-old. The club's abundance of attacking options has led them to believe that a potential sale would not be detrimental. Additionally, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool is looking to sign a new winger in the summer, with Pedro Neto from Wolves being monitored.

Salah's Contract Situation and Its Impact on Diaz

There are concerns about the future of Mohamed Salah, as he has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Losing both Salah and Diaz simultaneously would be catastrophic for Liverpool. The Sun claims that Diaz's future is dependent on Salah signing a new contract. To prioritize securing key players, Liverpool aims to offer new contracts to Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk.

All three players have contracts expiring in 2024/25. However, talks with the trio can only commence once Liverpool appoints a new sporting director. The club expects to fill the position soon, potentially re-hiring Michael Edwards. Liverpool would consider creating the role of chief football officer to entice Edwards back and give him full control over football operations.

Impending Departures of Matip and Thiago

In addition to Diaz, two more Liverpool players are likely to leave at the end of the season. Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are out of contract and won't be offered extensions. Matip has been sidelined due to an ACL injury and is not expected to feature again this season.

Thiago has struggled with injuries and has made only one appearance this season. He recently suffered a muscle injury, leading manager Jurgen Klopp to hint that his season and potentially his Liverpool career may be over. These departures signal a summer overhaul for Liverpool as they look to refresh their squad.
