UKMTO Reports Drone Attack in Red Sea

Britain's Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) has reported a drone attack in the Red Sea's Bab al-Mandab strait.

Earlier, UKMTO had reported drone activity originating from Yemen and had called on vessels in the vicinity to exercise caution.

The reports of the incident are yet to be independently verified.

Increase in Attacks in Middle Eastern Waters

The latest reported incident is part of a series of attacks in Middle Eastern waters since the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas began on October 7.

Last month, an Israeli-linked cargo ship was seized by the Houthi group, an ally of Iran, which controls most of Yemen's Red Sea coast.

The Houthi group had previously launched ballistic missiles and armed drones at Israel and threatened to target more Israeli vessels.

No Comment from the Houthis

There has been no immediate comment from the Houthis regarding the reported drone attack in the Red Sea.

The Houthi group, which controls a significant portion of Yemen's Red Sea coast, has been involved in several maritime incidents and acts of aggression in the region.

Their actions have raised concerns for the safety of vessels navigating through these waters.
