Borussia Dortmund's Plans for Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund wants to secure a loan deal for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Talks have already taken place, and the German club wants Sancho to join them on their training camp in Marbella next week. Although Sancho has not played for United since August, Dortmund believes he is fit and ready to make an immediate impact. The majority of supporters favor the transfer, as Sancho was popular during his previous spell at Dortmund.

Negotiations for a six-month loan deal are ongoing, and Dortmund is aware of the risk of signing a player who has not been part of matches for several months. However, they are willing to take the chance, as Sancho's fitness is good. Initial talks have focused on a loan deal until the end of the season, which would mean Sancho returning to the Bundesliga.

Sancho's Situation at Manchester United

Jadon Sancho was signed by Manchester United in 2021 for £73m. However, he has not featured for the club since August 2023 after a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho has been training away from the first team and has not been included in any matchday squads. United has been open to offers for the winger, and a return to Borussia Dortmund seems likely.

However, any transfer decisions this month involving Manchester United have to be consulted with INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has acquired 25% of the club and taken control of football operations.

United's Ruthless Contract Approach and Sancho's Future

Manchester United has adopted a more ruthless approach to player contracts, prioritizing the right culture and recruitment strategy. As part of this approach, discussions have taken place regarding Jadon Sancho's situation at the club. If a suitable exit route cannot be found, United may consider terminating his contract instead of trying to recoup some of the £73m they spent on him.

Several clubs in Serie A, Bundesliga, and the Turkish Super Lig have shown interest in Sancho, but his high wages have been an obstacle. Dortmund's approach to sign Chelsea's Ian Maatsen on loan could be an alternative if Sancho's return to Dortmund falls through.
