Jennie Announces Her Next Major Step

Jennie from BLACKPINK had a successful year in 2023 with various accomplishments. She released solo music, made her acting debut, headlined Coachella with BLACKPINK, and received an honorary title. As the year comes to a close, Jennie announces her next major step.

On December 24, Jennie posted on Instagram, introducing her new company named OA. She expressed her excitement for her solo journey in 2024 and asked for support for her new start with OA and BLACKPINK.

OA: ODD ATELIER

OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is an organization founded by Jennie in November 2023. The name reflects its intention to create unique and attention-grabbing content that deviates from the norm. With atelier meaning "workshop" in French, the name "odd workshop" perfectly describes its purpose.

The OA Instagram account gained half a million followers within hours of its launch. Jennie shared three new photos, accompanied by the caption explaining the meaning behind OA. The label aims to bring forth new and unconventional creations.

Jennie's Solo Career and BLACKPINK's Future

Jennie's announcement comes after the news of BLACKPINK re-signing their contract with YG Entertainment. While the group will continue activities together, Jennie is the first member to establish her own agency for her solo career.

Moving to new labels or establishing individual agencies is not uncommon in the K-pop industry. Jennie's commitment to BLACKPINK in her messages and interviews indicates that she still prioritizes the group. OA provides Jennie with the opportunity to explore various creative avenues, including music, fashion, and more.
