Apple Releases Third Betas of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4

Apple has released the third beta versions of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 to developers. This update follows the second beta release from last week.

How to Access the Betas

Developers who want to test the betas can access them by going to the Settings app on their device.

From there, they need to navigate to the Software Update section and tap on the 'Beta Updates' option.

Then, developers can toggle on the iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 Developer Beta to download and install the beta version.

Key Features of iOS 17.4

iOS 17.4 brings major changes to the App Store and apps operating in the European Union (EU).

These changes allow for alternative app marketplaces, alternative payment systems, third-party browser engine support, and NFC access for banks and third-party payment providers.

It's important to note that these features are only available in the EU and not in other countries.

Other Updates in iOS 17.4

In addition to the EU-specific changes, iOS 17.4 also includes updates for gaming apps.

Apple now allows cloud gaming apps like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW.

Furthermore, mini games, chatbots, and plug-ins can now use the in-app purchase system. iOS 17.4 also introduces new emoji characters, transcripts for podcasts, SharePlay support with HomePod, Stopwatch Live Activities, and more.
